Dealing with Anxiety


Anxiety is a common and normal emotion that’s essential for effective functioning. Healthy anxiety is our body telling us to be careful or alerting us to something that is dangerous or life-threatening or under pressure. This response of stress and anxious feelings usually passes once the stressful situation has gone, or the ‘stressor’ is removed.

Unhealthy anxiety is more than just feeling stressed or worried. The anxious feelings don’t subside. Anxiety is when the feelings are ongoing and exist without any particular reason or cause. It’s a serious condition that makes it hard for a person to cope with daily life. We all feel anxious from time to time but, for a person experiencing anxiety, these feelings cannot be easily controlled and those feelings overwhelm them.

Our approach is to help you to see the healthy aspects of what you are experiencing and to assist you to become master of your feelings rather than them mastering you.
