14 Questions to Ask When Things Are Getting Serious

You meet someone and really think and feel things are getting serious but wonder if you should take the next step and make the relationship more permanent.

I’m going to give you fourteen questions you can ask which will help you to work out whether you want to move in or marry someone.

The answers to these questions will show you where conflict might show up and the areas you both need to work on to make the relationship work.

1. How much time alone do you need end of the day and end of the week?
2. How do you feel about close friends of the opposite sex?
3. What are your love languages?
4. Do you want kids? How many?
5. Should a couple share their finances?
6. How much money do you owe? What type of debt is it – credit cards, car loan…?
7. How often do you want sex?
8. What scares you about being in a serious relationship?
9. How do you like to relax?
10. How much alcohol and or drugs do you consume?
11. What will end a relationship for you?
12. What will you not change for anyone, even me?
13. What turns you on? What turns you off?
14. What do you hate about yourself? What do you love about yourself?

If your potential partner doesn’t or won’t answer them, then I wonder what they are hiding or are they committed to a long-term relationship with you.

Oh… you need to be able to answer these questions as well.

These questions will not guarantee happy ever after BUT they will help you both to make your relationship be better.

Why would you go and buy a second-hand car knowing that last week it went under water or start a relationship not knowing the other person needs 30-60 minutes of chill time at the end of the day by themselves?

Yes, some of these questions might end the relationship before it starts.

Personally, I would like to know the answers sooner rather than in few years’ time when things are not going well.

What do you think?
